Description
Bordeaux is the capital of the Gironda department (France),
on the Gironda estuary, about 95 km of his opening. The
surrounding zone is famous by its wines, and was an important
center of wine commerce when the city was in English hands,
between 1154 and 1453. There are several medieval churches,
a cathedral of 11th to 15th centuries and one important
university, founded on 1441. The Alliance Français
Bordeaux-Aquitania is part of the network of French Alliances
of France. It is located in the heart of the city, near
the Public Garden and the vineyards, 40 km away from the
Ocean and the river basin of Arcachon, 90km away from
the Périgord and 60 km from the Landes.
Lodging
Students can choose between: host families, rooms, rooms
with breakfast, half board, hotel or student residences.
Academics
Classes are distributed in groups of 4 or 5 different
levels (9 to 14 students by group), but also with individual
attention. There is a communicative approach to language.
It is to say teaching is structured based on the 4 communication
skills: listening, writing, speaking, reading. The objectives
of the course settle down based on the level test.
Activities
Evenings are organized whether to have supper or to have
fun: tasting the regional kitchen, visiting vineyards
and tasting wines. It is possible to visit the city and
the port and to participate of the cultural life (theater,
cinema, museums); to make trips to the Périgord
and to discover its castles, to the prehistoric sites,
to swim in the ocean, in the Arcachon river, or to sing
ballads in the Landish forest . The Alliance offers courses
in the morning (60 hours monthly) in the afternoon (32
hours monthly) and in the evening(16 hours monthly). It
is possible to prepare DELF and DALF exams and to take
individual classes or in reduced groups.
